Dr. Ligon completed medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by his Pediatrics residency at UT Southwestern and subsequently his Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the joint program at Johns Hopkins and National Cancer Institute. He completed additional training in Pediatric Immunotherapy at the NCI before taking his first faculty position at the University of Florida in 2022. He is the PI on multiple open and upcoming clinical trials using RNA lipid nanoparticle aggregate (RNA-LPA) vaccines for pediatric patients with brain tumors and other solid tumors, and also runs a translational laboratory for research to expand the use of these vaccines into new clinical trials.
